Understanding Your Quote
After you submit your dissertation, the platform generates an automated quote with a detailed breakdown. This page explains what each part of the quote means.
Quote Structure
Your quote is made up of individual line items, a subtotal, an administrative fee, and a final total.
Line Items
Each line item corresponds to a component of your dissertation that was detected during analysis:
| Line Item | What It Covers |
|---|---|
| Text editing | The main body of your dissertation, priced per word. This includes all chapter text, excluding references and front matter. |
| References | Your bibliography or works cited section, priced per word. References are priced at a different rate than body text since they require different editorial attention. |
| Tables | Each table in your document is counted and priced per table. Includes formatting, alignment, and content review. |
| Figures | Each figure (images, charts, graphs) is counted and priced per figure. Includes caption formatting and placement. |
| Front matter | Title page, abstract, acknowledgments, table of contents, and other preliminary pages, priced per page. |
Subtotal
The subtotal is the sum of all line items before the administrative fee is applied.
Administrative Fee
A percentage-based administrative fee is added to the subtotal. This covers project management, quality control review, and platform operational costs. The current admin fee rate is shown on your quote.
Total
The final total is the subtotal plus the administrative fee. This is the full price for the selected service.
How Pricing Is Calculated
The system uses a rate schedule to calculate each line item:
- Body text: Rate per word (varies by service type)
- References: Rate per word (typically lower than body text rate)
- Tables: Flat rate per table
- Figures: Flat rate per figure
- Front matter: Rate per page
The rates may differ based on the service type you selected (editing only, formatting only, or both). Combined editing and formatting services reflect the additional work required.
Important Notes
- This is an automated estimate. The quote is generated by analyzing your document's structure and applying the current rate schedule. Complex formatting requirements, extensive tables, or unusual document structures may result in an adjusted final price after editor review.
- Rates are subject to change. The rate schedule is updated periodically. Your quote reflects the rates in effect at the time of submission.
- Your quote is saved. You can return to your quote page at any time using the URL provided after submission. Bookmark it for your records.
Questions About Your Quote?
If something in your quote does not look right, or if you have questions about the pricing, you can schedule a video consultation with your editor to discuss the details. See Video Consultations for instructions.
