Video Consultations
The Dissertation Editor platform includes built-in video conferencing for consultations between editors and clients. No external software is required — everything runs in your browser.
Joining a Video Room
- Navigate to the Video Room page at
/room - Enter your name in the "Your Name" field
- The Room Name will be pre-filled with a default — change it if your editor gave you a specific room name
- Click Join Room
During the Call
Once connected, you will see:
- Your video feed (small, bottom corner)
- The other participant's video feed (main view)
- Controls at the bottom of the screen
Available Controls

| Mute/Unmute | Toggle your microphone |
| Camera On/Off | Toggle your camera |
| Leave | Exit the video room |
Requirements
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
- A working microphone and camera
- A stable internet connection
Tips
- Use a headset to avoid echo
- Ensure good lighting so your editor can see shared documents on screen
- Close unnecessary browser tabs to improve performance
- If you experience connection issues, try refreshing the page and rejoining
Privacy
- Video calls are peer-to-peer when possible
- No recordings are made unless explicitly arranged
- The platform uses the same encryption standards as commercial video conferencing tools
